Cars are a way to travel, right? I thought I’d talk about our cars.

Kendra bought her first car with cash she had saved from working at Tolly-Ho. When that car was stolen 6 months later, she bought her second car at auction with the insurance money. A year later she traded that car in for her third and current car using the trade in and $3,000 cash for the down payment.

Stephenie’s first car was a 1986 Ford Bronco II (Red). Her parents gave it to her in 1990 and bought a newer car once she graduated and left for college. 6 months after graduation, the car began leaking oil and had a cracked head. Stephenie sold it for cash and didn’t own a car again until Kendra was a few months old. She then bought a 1980-something Chrysler New Yorker from her uncle for $1300. That Christmas break of 1994, she wrecked it driving to visit family. There might have been an icy bridge involved. Insurance paid her $2600 for it and she used that as a down payment on a used car – a 1991 Mazda 626. She drove that car until 1998 when she bought a spanking new 1999 Toyota Corolla. She drove that until she was about to graduate from college in November 2006 when she purchased a 2007 Toyota Rav4. She drove that until March 2012 when she bought a 2012 Hyundai Sonata.
