Staying with me?

If you’re thinking of staying with me, here’s some basic information to help you decide.

Here’s the address:

Cirrus Apartments, 2030 8th Ave, Seattle, WA 98121

I live in an 850 sqft 1-bedroom apartment. Single visitors will sleep on the comfortable twin-sized pull-out bed. Couples can share my comfy king-sized bed. I’m clean and relatively neat and have tons of bathroom counter space. I do have two dogs that shed terribly, so avoid wearing black in my apartment. I have in-unit laundry that you can use. I usually work around 7am-4pm in the building next door.

If you’re thinking of staying with me, check with me before booking your flight.

Looking for a hotel?

If you’re staying in a hotel, make sure you do good research. I’ve heard rumors that bed bugs are pretty bad in Seattle. Also, location does matter. Because Seattle is on the side of a “hill” walking what appears to be short distances can be difficult, meaning that you’ll want to take a bus or ride-share. For convenience to transportation and good restaurants, I recommend that you stay near Pike Place Market or near Westlake Center.

I have not done any hotel research. Please pass on any research that you do.

Sightseeing?

I’ve gathered some information for sightseeing in Seattle.

Here’s a good article: HOW TO CONQUER SEATTLE IN AN HOUR OR LESS

My tips:

  • Maps don’t give you an idea of how steep the hills in Seattle are. Generally speaking, moving towards the water is downhill and away is uphill.
  • Walk around Pike Place Market. It gives you a good feel for the city.
  • There are no buses down at Pike Place Market or the waterfront. Take an Uber or climb some hills to 3rd Ave to get to a bus.
  • The Ferris wheel is pretty cool if the line isn’t too long.
  • Unless you HAVE to go up in the Space Needle because you do that in all cities, skip it.
  • The aquarium isn’t worth the time.
  • The underground tour is interesting, but time-consuming.
  • You can take the 40 bus up to Fremont to see the Fremont Troll. (It’s about 25 minutes each way to get the selfie.)
  • On a clear day, you can get the best possible view of the Space Needle, the city skyline, the water, and Mt. Rainier from Kerry Park (211 W Highland Dr). Take a selfie stick to get a good view over the trees. Go early morning for a sunrise photo, or in the afternoon or evening so that the sun is behind you.
  • The Segway tour is fun.
